Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts Integration, and Math

In FCPS, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts Integration, and Math) is a student-centered, project-based interdisciplinary instructional model that integrates STEAM content areas. STEAM is based on student-driven inquiry and problem solving to facilitate innovation through 21st-century skills; collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.

STEAM is based on rigorous project-based inquiry, interdisciplinary learning, and research and field-based experiences that prepare our students in a growing industrial and highly technological society. STEAM fosters school-based cross-curricular collaboration and facilitates relationships with higher-level education institutions, the public, and private sectors, professionals, and parents providing authentic hands-on experiences. STEAM prepares students for academic and career successes. STEAM supports deep learning and application of content.
